Self-Contained Learning Support Classroom

Welcome to room 212.

My students are with me the majority of the day for
* Social Studies
* English
* Math
* Science
* Social skills
* Goals
* Progress monitoring

We work as a group, as well as in smaller group and individually with whatever need the student has.
I use many different medias to stimulate the students' curiosity and ability to learn. We use computers, we learn from books, we use journals, we learn from watching the news, a few documentaries, class discussion, games, experiments, and anything else that we can think of.

Once a month we try to go on a field trip, so that we can practice using public transportation, ordering food, making purchases, making change, social skills, etc.

Grades & Homework:
My students' grades are based on completed work and participation.
When students do not complete their work in class, it becomes homework and is due within a week for full credit.
Students can still hand their late work in within the same marking period, but they will only be worth a maximum of a D.

Home Base – Room 212
Even though my students go to their electives and specials, room 212 will be their home base.
—Book bags can be left in my room or in the student's locker.
—I.D.s need to always be work visible around the neck.
—No hats, hoodies, caps, shower caps, bonnets, headscarves, doo-rags, wave-caps, bandannas, etc. are ever allowed in school.
—Phones are not allowed in school.
—Student who are late can face discipline.
—When a student needs to use the bathroom or see the nurse, they need a hallway pass.
—I am also my students' case manager, so please direct any questions or concerns to me.
